*My Baby is ONE*

I remember the day so clearly..9(10) months of waiting and its the Friday before our little man is scheduled to be brought into this world. It was a very long 9(10) months not just because of the excitement and anticipation BUT because our little Angel baby didn't make it very easy on me. :)
SO I am on my first officially day of maternity leave on Friday October 31, 2008, we had literally just moved into to our new home the weekend before. My c-section was scheduled for Monday November 3. I was at the hospital for my FINAL OB appointment and for my pre-opt that way on Monday all we had to do was head straight for L & D. I finish up my Dr appt and head down stairs to wait to register....Not 5 minutes into my wait one of my favorite nurses comes from the elevators with a blood pressure cuff. I looked at her like she was crazy and said what are you doing?! Lonnie informs me that as Dr. C was looking over my chart after left he noticed my blood pressure.....it was high....160/80 something....so he sent her down to take it again and if it was still high I had to go back to the office.(Mind you the nurse that took it was supposed to highlight because it was so high and I never would have made it out of the office)
In my mind I am thinking please have went down...I don't even have a bag packed!! My house is still in boxes for the most part and the only room that is finished is the nursery!! It was my plan to get everything done that weekend...seeing as we were scheduled to go in 2 weeks before my due date to have him anyways!
Ok back to the story...So Lonnie takes it...its HIGHER! Up the stairs we go I am putting off calling Pooh poor guy has had 4 calls from the Dr office during the pregnancy that I would be staying due to complications(I was severely sick which caused me to be dehydrated, one stay, pre-term labor, which caused a stay AND meds to stop it until I was 35 weeks, preclampsia which includes high blood pressure and swelling, which got me another overnight stay..and there was one other in there for one of the 3) So I go to the room where they do the NST testing spent alot of time in this room I knew it well...and wait. They make me put my feet up, put the monitor on my tummy, and try to calm down. Dr. C comes in takes me pressure again and looks at the movements on the NST machine. Guess what...we are headed up to L & D. I make the call to the hubby....
Up in L & D my pressure keeps climbing, I am starting to have contractions...and they need some blood to do some tests, and to start an IV. So in come the vampires(AND I AM not talking the sparkley kind!) Someone please tell me why when you tell someone in the medical field that you have horrible veins, use a butterfly needle and that it usually takes an anesthesiologist to start the IV that they look at it like a challenge?? 6 people, huge bruises, 2-3 vials of blood, numerous needles, and an anesthesiologist later we have a line and enough blood for their tests.
The hubby arrives. We decided to wait and make phone calls to our families until we for sure knew what was going on. No reason to raise the alarm...yet. (well I did call my Mom....but what girl wouldn't. :)) So we wait. Dr.C isn't coming until after the office closes and the blood tests have time to be completed...so we wait some more....Finally around 4:30 he comes in looks over my chart and says well when is the last time you ate today? I said around 9:30 this morning on the way to your office. His response okay then...lets have this baby! I'll be back around 7:30 and we will have him around 9!!( WHAT! I am excited at first...and then I go straight to freak out mode...I am so scared. Pooh is overjoyed he wanted him to come on Halloween anyway..so this worked out for him!)
Now let me tell you reasons behind some of this. Preclampsia has set in and turned itself into to toxemia...my bp was 170(maybe 180 don't remember 100%) over 98/89? at this point. And Dr.C said if we don't take him now you will be rushing back tonight or tomorrow with seizures and that is not good for you or him. Well I know that but...still a baby on Halloween? Now the Dr is referring to him as the "boo baby". Great. So we make the phone calls...my Mom is almost there, my brother is taking my sister trick or treating, my mother in law is coming, my step dad is coming, one set of brother and sister in law are down in Miami visiting family, and the others I later learned are 4 houses down with my nieces trick or treating, and Pooh's Dad is coming down from Ga. So its pretty much just going to be us..for a little while...and to tell you the truth I kinda like it that way. :)
So my Mom arrives, comes into the room to wait with my while Pooh runs home to shower and pack our bags. Let me just tell you laying in a hospital bed knowing you are about to be cut open and a baby pulled out does not help the process of trying to write a list of things that all 3 of us are going to need....not to mention that alot of stuff is in boxes and I am trying to remember where said boxes are. But he manages, makes it back and we wait. Then the nurse comes in to talk to us, gives Pooh his scrubs(he was VERY excited about that), then the anesthesiologist, and then finally Dr. C comes walking in with a flannel shirt, boots, jeans, and the biggest foam floppy cowboy hat I have ever seen! Yep its Halloween. He heads off to get ready while we wait, my Mom has to leave us...we are both crying but she is trying to hold it together for me(love you Momma). Now its just me and Pooh. I'll admit that those 10-15 minutes when it was just the two of us I felt such a connection and such love for him, and knowing that we were about to be a family of 3 made us both over joyed.
They take us down the hallway to the OR, he has to wait in a chair outside while they give me my spinal block, and get everything set up. Can I just say that trying to bend over far enough and not move when you have a baby in your tummy and you are swollen are not an easy thing to accomplish while they are trying to get your medicine in your spine! I just remember it being very cold, me telling them to keep an eye on Pooh I was worried he would pass out, and thinking please please let me be numb when they start! They started at 9:00 pm, Pooh was there talking to me and rubbing my hair, I wanted so bad to hold his hand but mine were tied down...and then all of a sudden Dr. C says it wont be long now I almost have him! I'm like WTH?! I didn't even know you had started! :) So at 9:15pm on Halloween...I hear that first amazing cry of MY baby. 6lbs, 9oz of perfection, he had a head full of dark hair and the sweetest face I've ever seen.
They show him to us...we are both in tears... we take a few pictures then away Pooh and our beautiful baby go. I'm left alone for the Dr to finish up. By the time I am in recovery people started arriving. As they let everyone in they are dying to get their hands on Corbin but too bad I haven't gotten a chance to hold him yet...I didn't want to give him up but I could tell that his Grandmothers and Papa were about ready to snatch him from me!
So this is the story on the day my little man was born...its hard to believe that its already been a year(ok over a year) since this day...There have been some hard ones, some long ones, and ones where I just didn't know what to do...but there is nothing in this world that would make me change a thing.

{Angel Baby- Happy first birthday! From the time that we found out you were on the way we loved you...from the first time you were placed in my arms I knew that I could never love anyone more. You have helped to make us a "family" the missing piece to our small puzzle. I love how everyday is an adventure to you...and I love watching the world unfold through your eyes. Everything is so new and exciting. I love your temper and your Hulk pose, I love your smiles they melt my heart, I love how you make me crazy some days, how you worry me on others, I love that you think I can fix anything and make everything better, how you make funny faces at Daddy especially when he is getting on to you because you know it will make him laugh....How you are fearless and into everything. I love how you have turned my world upside down for the better and stolen my heart. Remember Corbie we love you more than you will ever know..and we are so proud and thankful that you are ours. Love~ Mama and Daddy}
